Rumours about the cease-fire started in the last few days. In the UK, around 25% of Labour MPs are urging for a halt in Gaza, with roughly 40 of them endorsing an EDM. This motion condemns the attacks on Israeli civilians by Hamas but emphasises that it doesn't warrant collective retaliation against Palestinians and pushes for a ceasefire.

Spain's interim Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, has advocated for an immediate and humanitarian ceasefire in the conflict between Israel and Hamas. He emphasizes the dire need to systematically introduce humanitarian aid in Gaza, reflecting the intense requirements of the Palestinian populace.

However, the United Nations Security Council faces challenges in reaching a consensus on either imposing a ceasefire or introducing a humanitarian pause to support the embattled residents of the Gaza Strip, primarily due to the varied political stances of its members.

It’s hard to predict the next actions at this moment.

Looks like only the UK and Spain government is not scared to say what they think! I can’t believe how the word can watch all these children die. But in the same time the situation between Israel and Hamas is complex and deeply rooted in history. It's important to approach such topics with a well-informed perspective, understanding the various intricacies and viewpoints associated with the conflict.

It is indeed heartbreaking to witness the loss of innocent lives, especially among the civilian population, including children, in the Israel-Hamas conflict. The ongoing violence and suffering on both sides are devastating, and it is crucial to work towards a lasting solution. A temporary ceasefire could potentially provide some relief and allow for urgent humanitarian assistance to reach those in need. It could create an opportunity for dialogue, diplomacy, and peace negotiations to begin. However, reaching a ceasefire requires the willingness and commitment of both parties involved. External pressure and mediation from the international community may also play a significant role in facilitating a ceasefire. Diplomatic efforts and negotiations should be pursued to encourage dialogue between Israel and Hamas, with the aim of achieving a long-term resolution to the conflict. It is essential to prioritize the protection of all civilians, regardless of their nationality or affiliation. Both Israel and Hamas should be held accountable for any actions that violate international humanitarian law. Ultimately, a peaceful and sustainable solution can only be achieved through mutual respect, recognition, and understanding between all parties involved. It is my hope that an end to this devastating conflict is reached soon, preventing any further loss of innocent lives and providing a path towards a just and lasting peace.

It is not possible, neither side will give in and agree to a ceasefire.

The number of children reported killed in Gaza during Israel’s military campaign over the past three weeks has surpassed the annual number of children killed in armed conflict globally in each of the past four years, according to Save the Children.

More than 3,000 children have been reported killed in Gaza since October 7 by the enclave's Hamas-controlled health authorities. 

Save the Children has added its voice to those calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
