How do the Amish live?

The Amish community, one of the most well-known unusual religious groups in the world, emerged in Switzerland in 1525.  It is said that they immigrated to America after being subjected to violence in Europe due to their beliefs and lifestyles.  It is possible to see people with this belief in almost all states of America.
Amish marriages from the outside world are prohibited by some groups and not tolerated by others.  In order to continue the Amish tradition, they find it more appropriate to marry among themselves.  Because they refuse to serve the state, they also refuse to do military service.  It is very difficult for them to establish themselves and accept others when mingling with another community.
Amish (the lucky ones), who can only continue their education until the 8th grade, start to be educated at home after this grade.  Parents are reluctant to send their children to school because they think it will tear their children away from the Amish beliefs.  The US Supreme Court also ruled that the Amish do not need to attend compulsory education, citing freedom of belief.
So how do the Amish live?  This community, which lives in large areas, sustains their lives by cultivating, and they continue to do so today, just as people earned their living in the 18th century.  Since it is forbidden to use motor vehicles, they do not use tractors.  Instead, they prefer primitive methods.  They provide transportation by horse carriage.  The Amish, who do not have electricity in their homes, light their homes with gas lamps.  Photography and video shooting is strictly prohibited.  When they see the camera, they almost disappear.  They do not have a church, they pray at home.  One of the harsh rules of the Amish, who excommunicate those who do not follow the rules, is that the family of the excommunicated person stops talking to the person and is sent from the region.

The Amish have a traditional way of life, culture and language that has been preserved for many centuries. Their life is based on the principles of community and respect for nature. They do not use electricity or motorized vehicles. They live mainly in Russia and China. In Poland, you can meet few Amish groups, mainly at ethnic and cultural festivals. The Amish are guided by traditional principles and values such as family and community. They have many prohibitions and taboos, for example related to food and sexuality.

The first Amish community was founded in the 17th century in Switzerland as a branch of the Anabaptists, a Protestant Christian community. However, many of them eventually emigrated to North America. Currently, about 120,000 of them live there - and we associate this community mainly with the United States. On average, we don't know much about the Amish - we know that they are orthodox in faith, deal with farm work and crafts, reject some modern inventions and technological achievements.

The only Amish family in Poland lives in the Lublin region, in Roztocze. It is made up of Anita and Jakub Martin and their seven children. They were visited by Maria Sikorska with the crew of the program "With Climate and Passion", broadcast on Polsat News.
