What weapons can be legally possessed in Poland?

What weapons can be legally acquired and owned? At what price? Do you need a license for each of the legal ones and how to get one?

Without permission, you can have:
- pneumatic weapons (popularly known as air rifles) with kinetic energy up to 17 kJ,
- a black powder weapon from before 1895 (or a replica of it produced later) with a separate loading mechanism, i.e. a propellant charge (black powder) cannot be connected to a projectile,
- alarm weapons up to 6 mm (so-called bang guns),
- bow (crossbow is prohibited),
- possibly a melee weapon that is not hidden, e.g. in a pen or an umbrella, and thus does not pretend to be other objects (e.g. brass knuckles are forbidden because they pretend to be rings).
The prices of the above-mentioned weapons are so different that I will not list them in detail. In any case, black powder guns can be bought for a few hundred zlotys and up, similarly with airguns.
There are several ways to get a firearms license in Poland:
- the first is an exam before the provincial police commander,
- the second is joining uniformed services, such as the police or the army,
- the third way is to work as a security guard, and then proceed in accordance with separate regulations,
- the fourth is to become a hunter, i.e. joining a hunting club and passing the appropriate exam,
- the fifth way is a sports license, i.e. joining the shooting club, taking a course, and then passing the exam.
The last method is the easiest and the cheapest. After successfully passing the exam, you can purchase as many weapons as allowed by your permission. So if you agree to 5 items, you go with the promise to the chosen store and make the purchase. Important detail - you need to buy as many weapons as indicated in the promise, so take this into account when applying. And you also need to buy a gun cabinet, an S1 class safe, compliant with the guidelines of the Institute of Precision Mechanics.

Only for black powder, you do not need a permit. You need a license for sports and hunting. In my opinion, the easiest way is to get a sports license. You sign up for a shooting club, take training and state theory and practice club examinations. With that, you ask the police for permission (they always give you less than you ask, e.g. 5 pistols instead of 8), do an interview and questioning, and then issue a permit with which you can buy a gun in a gun shop. Or from someone privately if you prefer.

This weapon is knowledge, which you can legally acquire anywhere and in unlimited amounts, and it is extremely difficult to lose it from your hands.

As mentioned above, black powder weapons are legal and you can own them without a permit. However, an alternative that everyone can own is a gun with rubber bullets.

As for other types of weapons (non-firearms), you also have stun guns, telescopic batons, pepper sprays (gel ones are better), knives, gas guns, bang guns, etc. You can go to the militaria.pl store website and there you will find a lot of information about various weapons, that anyone can buy.

In Poland, it is legal to possess various types of weapons, such as: - Sporting firearms, including shotguns, hunting rifles, and sports pistols - Gas weapons - Traumatic weapons - Self-defense weapons, such as stun guns, telescopic batons, etc. The prices of weapons may vary depending on the brand, model, and purpose. Both cheap and very expensive models can be found. In order to legally possess a firearm, it is necessary to have the appropriate license. Firearms licenses are issued by the police after meeting certain conditions, such as psychological examinations, shooting training, and having appropriate security measures at home. Before acquiring a weapon, it is advisable to consult with a lawyer or an organization defending the rights of weapon owners to ensure that all procedures and regulations are followed.
