How to start programming?

Hello, I am a construction engineer with several years of experience and quite good earnings. However, due to the very likely collapse in construction, I am considering investing in learning programming. Therefore, a few unknowns arise for me. Which learning system to choose? Face-to-face or online courses? What specific programming language should you learn in order to enter the market as smoothly as possible? Is the course alone enough or should I pay special attention to something else?
