What can be done to change your attitude towards life and live in a more satisfying way?

Working with my clients, I often encounter the difficulty of changing their attitude towards life. The dominant approach that determines their every day not only affects them, but also their surroundings and the actual course of situations in which they are participants or observers.Divisions and criteria of different life patterns are diverse, although for simplicity I will use the distinction between destructive and developmental.Destructive patterns are those that significantly limit or even make it impossible to lead a satisfying life in private and/or professional areas, for example: "nothing ever goes right for me", "if things are going well, something bad will happen soon", "my parents were like this, so I am too."A developmental way of looking at the world is to see possibilities, regardless of the context, and the knowledge and sense of agency and effectiveness, for example: "I am effective in decision making", "what happened in the past does not determine my today and tomorrow", "I am focused on the process in action, because it will lead me to the result I care about."Below are a few tips on what can be done differently to acquire or improve a developmental pattern: It is important to focus on today, not yesterday: I recommend an experiment of simultaneously looking back and forward. From my knowledge, this is an impossible task to carry out, which in turn provokes a choice of what a person wants to focus on: their past or their present and future? It is necessary to separate other people's patterns from one's own using the method of questioning: Is this my pattern? Do I want to identify with it and use it? What could be useful for me from this approach? It is important to notice the repetition of patterns in different areas of life It is worth asking oneself what is preventing me from behaving differently: habit often dominates, as well as reluctance to change or a lack of a way to achieve it In conclusion, the most important thing is to identify in which pattern one is: "Is the glass half full or half empty?" and do I want to change it? If the answer is yes, then one must be prepared for systematic work that will bring about a change in attitude and consequently in life.
