5G network available in Poland

Plus is the first telecommunications operator in Poland to implement the 5G network as part of its services. This does not mean, however, that it is widely available - in order to use it, you need to have an appropriate device that supports the latest data transmission standard.

Plus has decided to launch a 5G network in several of the largest cities in Poland:

  • In Warsaw,
  • Gdańsk,
  • Katowice,
  • Lodz,
  • Poznan,
  • Szczecin,
  • Wroclaw.

The basic condition that must be met in order to be able to use the 5G network is to have a smartphone capable of handling it. As the technology is new and has not yet become a common standard, few devices support it. Among them, there are only a few of the most modern, and thus the most expensive, high-end smartphones. Speech incl. about models:

  • Samsung Galaxy S20,
  • Xiaomi Mi 10 and Pro,
  • Huawei P40,
  • OnePlus 8,
  • Realme X50 Pro.

The cost of purchasing each of these devices ranges from PLN 3000-6000, so it is not a small expense. However, it should be remembered that with the passage of time and the spread of 5G, more and more smartphones will be able to support it. Using the technology in Plus, you can count on data transfer at the level of 600 Mb / s. For comparison, as part of the LTE standard, Plus speeds up to 150 Mb / s.
