For many years, the center of our country was the town of Piątek in the Łódź Voivodeship. The measurements related to the land area. In 2018, geodesists from the Honorary Kraków Meridian, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Independent Poland and the Year of Polish Geography, determined a new geodetic center of Poland by including both land and water territories in the measurements. It is now located in the village of Nowa Wieś in the Kutno municipality, Kutno County, Łódź Voivodeship, on private land. It is approximately 16 km from the previously recognized central point of the country. The granite pedestal bears the inscription - Geodetic Heart of Poland - Centroid of the Territory of the Republic of Poland.
