Ethereum 2.0 is available in July

Full network upgrade to Ethereum 2.0 may take up to several years, but the first test phase may come to light in July this year, according to the BitMex Research Report.

Sharding is a proposed solution to the scaling problem, but itself poses additional dilemmas. Existing smart contracts will not be able to go directly to the new chains, so they will have to be gently rebuilt for the new ecosystem.
