Litecoin's native crypto card will be launched

BlockCard launches Visa's first native Litecoin (LTC) debit card.

Charlie Lee said it was their second attempt as the previous one was unsuccessful: "We previously worked with LitePay on a debit card, but it failed when LitePay retired from the business."

Lee also made a distinction between this native Litecoin debit card and other cryptocurrency cards that support LTC:

"There are currently other crypto debit cards available that support Litecoin, however this card is natively LTC so funds are held in LTC until paid."

While LTC holders may already register for the card, the service itself will not be available for another couple of weeks. Lee noted that there is no such thing as a "Litecoin maximalist":

"I don't think it even exists. Most Litecoiners support and HODL also BTC."

Users will be able to make deposits in twelve of the most popular currencies, including all major stable coins. According to Lee, about 300 users have signed up so far. Meanwhile, Litecoin consistently remains in the top ten coins by market capitalization.
