Balance between movement and sitting.
Today I would like to talk to you about the balance between movement and sitting. We live in times where most of us spend a large part of the day sitting in front of the computer, in the car, at the desk or on the couch. Unfortunately, this has a negative impact on our health and well-being.
Therefore, the balance between movement and sitting is extremely important. On the one hand, we need physical activity to keep our body in good shape. On the other hand, we also need to make sure we don't overdo it with the amount of time we spend sitting.
So how do you find this balance? Some of my tips:
- Plan your day - if you have a sedentary job, try to organize your tasks in such a way that you have the opportunity to move as much as possible. For example, instead of sending e-mails, get up and talk to a colleague in person. On a warm day, choose a bike to go somewhere instead of using a car or public transport.
- Active lifestyle - try to incorporate more physical activity into your life. Find a sport you enjoy and practice it regularly. You can also add walking/cycling to your daily routine.
- Stretching - regular stretching is useful to keep the body flexible and mobile. That's why it's a good idea to take a break from sitting every now and then and stretch your muscles. This can be combined with the point above and you have 2 in 1 😊
- Regular breaks - if you have to sit for a long time, try to take regular breaks during which you do some simple relaxation exercises, or just get up and walk around for a few minutes. In addition, do not sit rigidly in one position (even the right one), change them.
- Catch yourself slouching! Everyone slouches sometimes. But if you think about it, catch yourself doing it and straighten yourself automatically - that's a success. Get into this habit and you will avoid many problems.
I hope that these tips will help you achieve a balance between movement and sitting.
