The Italian Banking Association is ready to accept the digital euro

The Italian Banking Association (ABI) has revealed that it would be willing to support the implementation of the European Central Bank's digital currency.

According to an update on June 28 on the ABI website, the association has approved the guidelines governing its position on digital currency and central bank digital currencies (CBDC).

The ABI - representing the group of banks in Italy - said it was ready to "participate in projects and experiments on the digital currency of the European Central Bank [...] to accelerate the implementation of the initiative at European level".

"Digital money must be fully trusted by citizens. To do this, it is essential to adhere to the highest standards of compliance, security and supervision."
