IBM presented its vision of a "Smart City" integrated with blockchain

IBM Think Digital Summit was held on June 12. Among other technologies at this conference, IBM demonstrated its vision of the smart cities of the future and how it plans to make the Internet of the Environment a central goal to make these cities comfortable and safe.

The constant pursuit of energy efficiency is the only way to achieve the balance necessary to function harmoniously with our environment. A network of sensors inside and outside buildings in cities can provide a wealth of data and analysis on pollution and energy consumption, thus increasing efficiency. The sensor data is then collected and sent to the IBM cloud.

A service called "Cloud Foundry Application" has been developed in the IBM cloud. This is the node-red application of the endpoint to which the sensors can connect. From here, the data is sent to several other points, such as the "resource monitoring application", where it is stored and analyzed. As the data is received by the "node-red" application, it is also sent to the IBM Watson supercomputer where predictive analytics is performed and reports are generated.

Data is also sent to the V-ID cloud, where it is then entered on several blockchains, including the IBM Hyperledger. VIDT's smart contract proves that this data is the original sent from the sensor. In addition, any further verification is achieved with the online V-ID verification terminal in seconds. The first sensor has already been placed on the roof of IBM's headquarters in the Netherlands, and the data it collects is assessed and its authenticity verified by an IBM-selected V-ID blockchain partner.
