Minister of National Defense Kosiniak-Kamysz presented information on the security of Poland in the Sejm.
The most important and interesting information according to Infopigula: In eastern Poland, as part of the "Shield East" program, Polish companies will create not only fortifications, but also full monitoring, reconnaissance systems, and anti-drone systems; the improvement of the barrier is ongoing, as in many places it has proven to be ineffective. Funding for the 5,500 strong grouping on the eastern border will increase to 850 million PLN (previously 500 million); the number of attempts to cross the border with Belarus by organized groups of Somalis, Afghans, Syrians, Yemenis, and Iranians has increased by almost 50% year-on-year, with 14,000 attempts recorded by May 19. A project for a regulation on Poland's defense readiness is being prepared, a new national security strategy is being developed to ensure that record funding for the army (4% of GDP, i.e. 159 billion PLN) is allocated to the modernization of the entire military philosophy; the Transformation Command will be established; air defense is a priority. Regular military conscription will not be reinstated, as there is significant voluntary interest in serving, with a total of 198,000 soldiers, including 140,000 professional, undergoing training in over 20,000 voluntary, compulsory military service units, and 9,000 soldiers already called up for professional service this year. The training activity within the military has increased by 40%, with 60,000 soldiers training every day, and 16,000 allied soldiers training or stationed in Poland. Despite initial skepticism, the Territorial Defense Force (WOT) is proving to be valuable in Poland, with 35,000 territorial soldiers already, 20 new brigades are being established (including 2 border brigades), the WOT will be strengthened and developed, certified, and will be subordinate to the General Staff in August.
