Assassination attempt on the Prime Minister of Slovakia. More questions than answers...

The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, was shot on Wednesday in the town of Handlova in the western part of the country, where a government meeting was taking place.

"I can confirm that there was an assassination attempt on Prime Minister Robert Fico" - confirmed in a conversation with Reuters on Wednesday afternoon a spokesman for the Slovak Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The assailant reportedly fired four to five shots towards the Prime Minister. One of the bullets was said to hit the head of government in the chest - according to pravda.sk. Slovak media are reporting conflicting information about the Prime Minister's injuries, including reports that he was hit in the abdomen or head.

Witnesses in the Slovak media speak of blood stains on the Prime Minister's body.

The Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the assassination attempt on the Prime Minister of Slovakia: "We condemn this attack in the strongest possible terms, we consider it completely unacceptable" - he said. The Kremlin spokesman added that Slovakia has not requested Russia's assistance in the investigation into the attempted murder.

It is worth noting that recently intelligence services of EU countries warned their governments that Russian authorities are planning a series of sabotage and attacks on Europe, as reported by the British "Financial Times."

Among the planned actions by the Kremlin, sources mention explosions, arson, and damage to critical infrastructure. Russian authorities are ready to act, regardless of casualties among the civilian population, intelligence sources reported.

What do you think - is there any Russian involvement in this assassination attempt? And if so, what does NATO think about it?

In the video below, you can see the shooting of the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico. His life was saved because as he backed away, he stumbled and rolled over a bench, where the shots literally fell right where he had been standing moments before.

It is worth paying attention to the behavior of security and the delayed reaction.
