Day of the Red Cross and Red Crescent

World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is celebrated on May 8, the birthday of the founder - Henry Dunant. In Poland, the Polish Red Cross Week is celebrated from May 8-15. PCK was established shortly after Poland regained independence. The Red Crescent emblem was created as a Muslim counterpart to the Red Cross symbol. The crescent moon is a symbol of Islam. Since the Russo-Turkish War in 1876, the red crescent has become a recognizable symbol of humanitarian aid in Islamic countries. The Red Cross encourages selfless assistance to those in need, appealing to a sense of human solidarity, so on this day we express our gratitude to all volunteers and wish everyone all the best.
