New airport in Dubai versus CPK in Poland.
Dubai announced the construction of a new airport for $ 35 billion, which is supposed to overshadow the already huge, existing port.
Dubai World Central Airport (DWC) is to have 70 km2, over 400 aircraft gates and 5 runways, making it 5x larger than Dubai International Airport (DXB).
The new port, 40 km from the city, is to free up valuable land under the old airport near the center of Dubai. The estimated target capacity is 260 million passengers annually and up to 12 million tons of cargo per year.
For comparison, Warsaw Chopin Airport in Poland, also 40 km from the capital, is to have 30 km2 and a capacity of 40-50 million passengers or handling from 0.5-1 million tons of cargo annually.
The United Arab Emirates have 4 times fewer population than Poland.
