The white 2014 Buick Encore of the socialist politician was caught running a red light in the Bronx in November 2022 and was fined at least six times for parking in front of fire hydrants, according to city documentation. Her complete disregard for traffic rules extends beyond the Big Apple: In March 2022, traffic officers in Albany slapped the far-left legislator with a ticket for an expired parking meter, which, according to documents, she has yet to pay. Gallagher openly talks about her war on cars and in a 2022 interview called driving "a very aggressive activity." The mocking legislator supported a law known as "Sammy's Law," which allows the city to lower speed limits to just 10 miles per hour on some streets. She also endorsed a campaign to reduce the number of lanes on McGuinness Boulevard in Greenpoint. Anathea Simpkins, who will face off against Gallagher in the June Democratic primaries, criticized her opponent for hypocrisy - for example, the progressive politician confronted a driver on X for parking in a crosswalk, even though she received a ticket for the same offense. "Our district deserves leaders who set an example and practice what they preach, not those who think the rules don't apply to them while criticizing others," Simpkins said. After The Post asked for comment on Friday, Gallagher downplayed the severity of her unauthorized behavior on X. "I don't have any infractions related to speeding or school zones. I've only paid a few parking tickets," she added.
