The answer to this question is fortune-telling. Also, I don't know what you mean by "better" because the two cryptocurrencies are very different. Is it price increase or usability?

For now, the undisputed king is BTC, but many things can happen in the next 2-3 years, let alone in the longer term. We do not know what form cryptocurrency regulations will take or whether a recession will come, and if so, how long. In addition, the Ethereum network is facing major changes and despite the efforts of the team, something can go wrong. ETH troubles would affect so many projects that there could even be a complete collapse of the market and loss of trust for many years, or maybe forever.

But let's assume that catastrophic scenarios don't come true. What, then, could affect Bitcoin's loss of its throne?

1\. The price of BTC will stabilize enough that it will cease to be interesting for investors looking for high returns. Then the capital can move to ETH and other cryptocurrencies or largely leave this market.

2\. People will realize that Bitcoin is mostly speculation, a carrier of value and little utility. Ethereum, which has enabled the development of thousands of other projects, is different, so it plays an important role.

3\. Ecologists shout about the harmfulness of Proof of Work, i.e. the method of mining BTC. It consumes a lot of energy without bringing tangible benefits to the world. Meanwhile, ETH is set to switch to Proof of Stake, which is a much greener solution.

4\. Bitcoin transactions are slow and expensive. If the Ethereum network solves a similar problem at home, it will beat it head-on.

5\. Bitcoin cannot be used in modern blockchain-based solutions, e.g. in smart contracts. This further limits its usefulness.

The question is whether these flaws are enough to stop Bitcoin from being number one. In my opinion, a lot depends on the institutions that are investing more and more boldly in this market. If at some point they come to the conclusion that ETH is a better choice and move most of the capital there, then the dethronement will become completely real. For now, the obstacle is that BTC has a predetermined maximum supply of 21 million, and in the case of ETH there is no upper limit for mining.

On the other hand, silver in our times is much more useful than gold, but it is still gold that is considered a carrier of value over time. Maybe the same will happen with Bitcoin?

Of course, the question of whether Ethereum is better than Bitcoin raises a lot of controversy in the cryptocurrency community. However, in my opinion, Ethereum has many advantages compared to Bitcoin. The first of these is the ability to program smart contracts, allowing for the creation of decentralized applications. Ethereum provides greater application possibilities than Bitcoin, making it more attractive to developers and businesses. Additionally, Ethereum has faster transaction confirmation times and lower fees, making it more efficient than Bitcoin. Nevertheless, Bitcoin is still considered the most valuable cryptocurrency, but in my opinion, Ethereum has greater potential and more extensive applications. I encourage everyone to share their opinions on this topic. Thank you!
