Your parents may be right, that's how PO ruled before PIS came to power. It all started back in the 90s when many Polish companies were being privatized. At that time, SLD, along with the Pruszków mafia cultivated by politicians, sold everything for a pittance, making millions in the process.
PIS is not better, they may have had ambitious plans to create Polish champions, but I suspect they did it only to have money for their own party (the example of Orlen and Obajtek) and to be able to legally siphon money from them for themselves and their friends (the example of various foundations to which state companies spent a lot of money). Now it is just coming to light how much PIS has embezzled during its rule.
I am neither for PO nor for PIS, this is my objective opinion from the outside looking at this entire Polish political swamp. A whole generation of politicians in our government needs to be replaced for things to change, but for now, there is no visible alternative to these two parties. I hope that maybe in a few years, Confederation will be strong enough to try to introduce some changes in governance beneficial for Poland. We could use a substantive party that would implement changes in governance. What we need most right now is quality leaders, not old men lying at every opportunity.

I believe that Polish state-owned companies, so-called state treasury companies, should ALL be privatized, as well as to whom is another matter. They are only a breeding ground for incompetence and storage for the political lumpenproletariat. An ideal example is the defense sector companies waiting solely for guidance and taxpayer money from 'above', an economic disgrace with the admiration of the political plebs (political plebs = zero knowledge and any reflection).

Once, this is how things were actually done.
But for many years there has been nothing to sell anymore. I mean, there are no such opportunities for people to be interested.
The PiS government even makes purchases.
The current PO government is, for now, not touching what exists.
