In this question, I miss information on how old the child is - a year, 10 or maybe 17? The idea of donating bitcoin is interesting, but you should remember about the high risk and cyclicality of this asset. Today's price will not be valid tomorrow, much less in a month or a year. If there is still a lot of time to adulthood, it is wiser to buy in levels during 20-30% drops and thus average the purchase price. Most of the scenarios talk about possible big increases in the next 10 years, but no one knows what will really happen. In the case of a small amount of time until eighteen, I would personally refrain from buying, because the bursting of the bubble on the crypto market (and maybe even on all speculative assets, e.g. exchanges) is only a matter of time and there will be an opportunity for cheaper purchases. The decision is yours anyway, but when buying, do not forget to properly secure the cryptocurrency, e.g. on a hardware wallet such as Ledger or Trezor or a paper wallet and make sure not to lose them. Unfortunately, no one will help you if you lose them, and keeping your funds in the stock market for such a long time is very risky.

All investments are risky. I think that if it is to be long-term, e.g. for 5 years or longer, then yes. It is important that these are not life savings. The old rule of thumb is not to invest more than you can afford to lose.

If you want to buy literally 1 piece of bitcoin, then remember how much it costs ;) As I write these words, it is PLN 125,000 ;) a month ago it was almost 170,000 and half a year ago almost 240. Some experts believe that it will fall sharply, others, that it will return to the level of the end of 2021, i.e. almost 200,000, and grow.

So you can if you are a very wealthy godfather ;)

When it comes to a relatively inexpensive and symbolic gift - you can symbolically buy, for example, one piece from many low, but potentially promising, relatively young cryptocurrencies. I considered this concept myself and called it "crypto bouquet" ;)

Such a symbolic gift, if none of them grow before the child reaches the age of majority - the intention will be appreciated. But it is enough for a few to grow drastically and there is a chance that after reaching the age of majority the recipient will be able to buy quite a lot with them. Car? Maybe even an apartment?

Just imagine that years ago someone would get 1 symbolic bitcoin worth, say, $10 from a nerd godfather. Today, he would buy half a small apartment or a nice car from the showroom.

I'm a fan of crypto, I think it makes sense. Hold on ledger and maybe later on something newer and better..
