Securities and Exchange Commission in short KPWiG existed in the years 1991–2006 it was a body   state supervising compliance with the rules of fair trading and competition in the field of trading in securities and commodities.

The Securities Commission was established on March 22, 1991 under the Law on Public Trading in Securities and Trust Funds.

The Commission acted in accordance with the Act on Public Law on Trading in Securities.

The tasks of the Committee included: Supervision over the observance of the rules of fair trading and competition in the field of public trading .

Supervision over the fulfillment by brokerage houses and banks conducting brokerage activities and foreign legal persons conducting brokerage activities in the territory of the Republic of Poland of the requirements regarding their financial standing

Inspiring, organizing and taking actions to ensure the smooth functioning of the securities market and investor protection;

Cooperation with other government administration bodies, the National Bank of Poland and institutions and participants of public trading, ensuring the development of the securities market
