I see it this way: Work has several meanings. What I'm writing here is a major simplification, so it shouldn't be taken too critically. The first dimension is financial - you work to have money; people who, let me call it, have "discovered the secret of wealth", work hard at the beginning to eventually benefit from the results without having to work anymore; in short, they work for money so that money can work for them after some time. After that period, they work for pleasure. However, most people work until retirement, and then they either settle for what they receive or continue to earn as long as they can. The second aspect is the activity itself - we do something and it results in an effect; often this applies to things we enjoy doing (hobbies, interests), and often the opposite (household duties ;) ). The third aspect is life - mental, meaning working on oneself. Next is learning - we do work to gain knowledge, and then we can use that knowledge in various ways. Taking all this into account, work does involve living people, but not all living people are engaged in work. Cryptocurrencies don't change anything; they are an option, a choice... You learn, and then you use that knowledge... or not.
