Litecoin's native crypto card will be launched
BlockCard launches the first native Litecoin (LTC) Visa debit card.
Charlie Lee said this is their second attempt, as the previous one failed: "We previously worked with LitePay on a debit card, but that failed when LitePay went out of business."
Lee also made a distinction between this native Litecoin debit card and other cryptocurrency cards that support LTC:
"There are currently other crypto debit cards available that support Litecoin, however this card is native LTC so funds are held in LTC until paid."
While LTC holders can already register for the card, the service itself will not be available for the next few weeks. Lee noted that there is no such thing as a "Litecoin maximalist":
"I don't think it exists at all. Most Litecoiners also support and HODL BTC"
Users will be able to deposit in twelve of the most popular currencies, including all major stablecoins. According to Lee, about 300 users have signed up so far. Meanwhile, Litecoin is consistently in the top 10 of coins by market capitalization.
