Malaysia's Malaysian Sharia Advisory Council has authorized digital asset trading
The Malaysian Securities Commission Sharia Advisory Committee has stated that digital asset trading is now allowed.
The Malaysian Sharia Advisory Committee is the body that oversees the implementation of Islamic law in the functioning of Islamic financial institutions.
Securities Commission chairman Datuk Syed Zaid Albar made a statement at the Invest Malaysia 2020 conference on July 7, stating:
"The Sharia Advisory Committee of the KN decided that in principle it is permissible to invest in and trade in digital currencies and tokens on registered cryptocurrency exchanges."
